Custom Work. Built for the Room.
Built to your dimensions when the right piece does not exist. Hardwood frames, joined the way the antiques on the next bench are joined.
Sometimes the piece you need cannot be bought. The alcove is four inches narrower than anything in the showrooms, the sofa has to be shallow enough to make the turn at the top of the stairs, the table sits an inch too high for the chairs it has to serve. Custom work starts with the room and its measurements rather than with a catalogue, and with what the piece has to do once it is in there.
Frames are built in solid hardwood and joined the way the antiques on the next bench are joined, because those are the joints we spend our days proving and repairing. Sofas are built to the room rather than to a standard depth, with an ottoman made to match where the room asks for one. Carving is cut by hand where the design asks for it, to a drawing or to a piece you already own. Fabric and finish are chosen with you.
